There once were a pair of Burmecian children named Marco and Marcelle. They were born as twins, and grew to become very attuned to each other. Their moods, their preferences. They even had the same black fur, the same body-type as they grew. But as they grew, their interests divided. Marco was enamored with stories of knights and glory, whereas Marcelle sought to be a warrior by other means.

They began to travel together, exploring the area around Burmecia and hunting small fiends. It became a common practice for them. Out there, they could show and hone their skills together. They could have become great warriors, but it was not to be.

They had disturbed the nest of an ancient wild dragon, and one of them died. The survivor was not scarred by this event, as they had shared their thoughts to each other and knew this path would lead to death, and had grown to accept it.

Soon, Marco returned to Burmecia, but only long enough to gather his possessions and leave, not staying long enough to mourn the death of his sister, the funeral being held with no corpse thanks to the unfathomable power of the beast they had encountered.

Marco turned to the Hunter's Guild shortly before leaving, and found some support in their tasks, giving him proper challenges and chances for glory... but something had changed in him. The Burmecian had become far too fascinated with bloodshed and the challenge of the hunt, and all else became less important in his eyes.

== Hoku, The Falling Star ==

Hoku was, simply put, a simple cub growing up in a tightly-knit family of Sanuye. She isn't very old, but she is reasonably aware of her family's traditions... to... some degree. Most knowledge that wasn't gritty physical work didn't quite stick, and she found herself taking up the warrior role more often than not in her teaching.

But her family got separated from her one day, a strong pocket of mist catching them offguard while they were returning from a hunting trip. She wandered on her own until she arrived in Emberstrand, and found herself living there for a couple of months. She had been taught the languages that are spoken there, since her family lived so close by, but she still has trouble in day to day life due to her brutish attitude and inexperience with modern life. She's found some comfort in being a part of the Hunter's Guild, though, and it's with them that she sharpens her teeth and claws and goes on rare expeditions to search for her tribe's whereabouts.

Lance is nothing more than an animal kin with family from Rozarria, who grew up in Emberstrand when the family left to avoid the dramatic problems they had encountered. He heard stories of one of his ancestors being quite the talented man of the arts, and had grown up dreaming to be like him.

Growing up in the slums made him fairly patient but aware of the emotional leanings of the people around him. He learned how to survive, and using his quickly growing talent of charisma and performing skills, he gained enough money to at least support himself and his family... especially as the Whisper War began and made funds tight for the entire city.

Lance aspires to become a famous performer the world over, but does not yet know where to start but with helping to put smiles on the faces of the locals in Emberstrand.

Born amongst the Sanuye of the tribe Orange-Mane, in a secluded village in the steppes some miles outside Emberstrand. Niyol was found to have an exceptional connection with the Spirit World at a young age, having been known for his ability to sense things that were coming through dreams, and imagery. He was taken in by the village shaman as an apprentice by the time he was eight. From that time on, he was taught in the ways of honing his abilities as a healer and seer, as well as how to properly leave out offerings for the spirits. His first real interaction with a spirit was on his first pilgrimage, just a little after his 16th birthday. The spirit had been a trickster, and ran him around the forest in search of an odd number of sticks that still held leaves. There was no point in this, however, save the spirit's own amusement.

At the end of the 'trial' the spirit did offer Nioyol a little advice, "Don't trust the dancing wolves." at the time, Niyol hadn't a clue what that meant, and took the message to the Shaman. Who laughed, and said it was merely a jest from a playful spirit. However, years later, the message rung true.. when a group of traveling lupine performers came upon the village. They asked for a place to rest and some food, claiming they were only passing through. In the dead of night, however, they struck. A detachment of armed bandits, and archers rushed the village, and sacked it.

Killing most of the inhabitants, while forcing the others to flee. Niyol was among the few who barely escaped. It was then he was cast out. His master had passed on a year before to illness, leaving him the only seer strong enough to sense the pending doom. When confronted, Niyol swore he didn't see it coming.. yet the words from the spirit he met as a child burned in his mind. In the end, he was forced to leave.. catching a traveling merchant's caravan and offering healing, in return passage to where-ever they were headed, this being Emberstrand...

Believe it or not, this man was not originally called Sebastion, nor was he a mere sword-for-hire. Sebastion's life began as an heir to a fortune of a noble military family in Archades, destined to become a leader and a powerful warrior, groomed and raised for war. His life revolved around this idea; he was a tool for war, his job was to enforce the will of Archadian influence, to be their sword when the time came to fight and to lead others with similar ideals, to die if he must. He was loyal to his country, and actually quite idealistic.

Unfortunately, the politics in Archades would ruin this entirely. His naivety was destroyed when he came home to find his family had be slaughtered in a surprise attack by so-called 'spies,' instead agents of a council member who saw his family as getting too powerful and needing... culling. Getting lucky, Sebastion found the one who led the assault, and killed him, his sight red with cold fury. After this, he found himself with an unfortunate problem. He had just killed an influential figure, and had no way to prove that this figure had committed the crime.

Something happened that day. Perhaps it was the blood running down his sword, but that was the day he found a new purpose. He was no longer an agent of Archades, the country he now wanted to see burned to the ground for the corruption he was subjected to. Now, Sebastion follows a much darker force, a force that guides him on his shaky path, a patron he believes will help him bring his enemies to their knees.

A Lucavian, an agent of those primordial spirits that rebelled against the current hierarchy, Sebastion follows the corrupting words of Chaos himself, and pray for anyone who truly gets in his way.

Having come to Emberstrand a few years ago, this enigmatic creature shows very little emotional reaction to the world at large, and when she does, it becomes increasingly obvious that she has difficulty acting 'normal' to most anyone, often quickly snapping into moments of frustration or plain anger.

Carrying a strange book on her back at all times, she has been known to attend public functions to record things in various notebooks, and has been known to act as a historian for those who ask for her services. She has a strangely deep well of knowledge in her head, mostly of arcane ideas and of things that have happened long ago, and is constantly working to try and deepen this knowledge.

== Grey Scholars ==
Her 'family', as she calls it, or moreover her clan, is a group of scholars with a very specific purpose. They seek to record and keep safe the history of the world. Many of the members of this clan can be seen from time to time, carrying names with themes to them according to the specific area they are assigned to, and some have even been trusted so far as to act as advisors. However, their code of ethics dictates that they do not directly interfere, for fear of losing all the information they have gathered.

They tend to avoid making bonds, though many of them worship spirits who have a hand in knowledge and wisdom. Ramuh is considered an unofficial symbol of the house, though those being derogatory would choose more malevolent spirits to symbolize them, as they are often seen as foreign and constantly suspected for things they seemingly have no hand in. Their response? 'We are Scholars, not Rogues.'

== Recent History ==
Ainsley's been thoroughly involved in the adventures of others, and getting increasingly more interested in their activities as her well of knowledge grows. She has helped warriors retrieve artifacts from crypt-like temples, and delved deep to find old technology.

But a recent task, a task that got her sent to a revealed temple holding a Lucavi known as Shemhazai the Whisperer, has shades of mystery behind it. They say that she managed to seal the temple, and she gets praised for it... But her behavior since that day has been increasingly aloof, losing the soft and whimsical edge she was working to show to the world.

== Lilium Steelclaw ==
Lily was a Mithra in a common Mithra society. A small settlement, where the Mithra had a society not entirely unlike that of the Viera. She grew up knowing the arts of war, the glory of bloodshed. She knew what it was to feel the warmth of battle's glow.

When she left the settlement to explore, she knew she could never look back. They would never accept her back. But she fell on hard luck. She was out in an arid area, unable to find food, and surely would've starved or been eaten. But a man found her, and offered her something that most people would never get the chance to experience: The power of being a thinking undead, to live outside the need to eat, sleep, or breathe. She was afraid of death. She had no choice, or that's what she believed.

Unfortunately, this was the first step in a long road of suffering for her, when she accepted. Towns would no longer allow her in because of her appearance. She was an abomination, some would say, while others would skip talking and try and stake her on the spot. She was eventually forced to disappear, and so she did, slipping into the desert, where she could feed off of animals and the rare caravan... Only when she needed to. Only when the sun beat down her will, when the hunger was too much to ignore. She refused to be a monster.

It was actually decades before she appeared again, outside Emberstrand. Most people wouldn't even know that she exists. Does she want freedom, to live like she should've lived... or does she want to find an end, where she can be happy for the retribution she would receive? It's hard to tell, as she isn't keen on explaining what she wants in the long term.

What most people think she is, is a warrior wandering the streets, or perhaps some kind of bandit hiding from the law. She skulks around in the shadows, she hides all but her radiantly crimson eyes, and she doesn't talk to many. No one knows where she lives, because she doesn't seem to actually live in the city.
