New page

[[File:Lake_of_Fire.jpg|right|thumb|350px]]

On the far side of the fireplains, in a deep valley gouged out of the living basalt of Ifrit's realm in eons past lies the Lake of Flame. A vast twenty mile expanse of red liquid with the consistancy of water and the sheen of machine oil and twice the flamability. It is said to be a lake that holds many secrets and treasure but no one has ever successfully found any of them for only those immune to the flames and heat can cross this lake and there is no wood to build boats from, the air above is wreathed in noxtious gasses and the lake bed is home to the skeletons of all those who have wasted their lives trying to find the treasures of Ifrit.

Another enigma about the lake are the islands, they can be seen from the rocky shore, barren rock thrusting up through the red oil-water and embedded in the rock of each island are strange crystals that catches and refracts the lake of the many pools of flame that dart across the volatile surface of the lake. The lake appears to be tidal with waves lapping at the shore and even its own devastating weather patterns and anyone who approaches the shore will be able to feel the blistering heat wafting off the surface, to stand upon the shore one needs great stamina and endurance.

Anyone staying within half a mile of the lake shore must make a: '''Stamina+Endurance''' roll every IC hour or at Judges discrection.

The fires that race across the surface of the lake are varied, some are small streamers of flame that race across the lakesurface, whilst others are giant conflagrations of heat and light that rise over fifty feet above the surface as the oily red water below burns! Sometimes a fire goes out, other times the fire burns for days before the roiling waves of the lake extinguish them. No one has ever been able to understand how the lake works, why it is not just a sheet of flame from shore to shore or what causes the firest that start or how the same liquid that is fuelling them can extinguish the flames. What is known however is that this lake is the home of the fire spirit Salamander.

===Spirit of the Lake===

To attract the attention of Salamander visitors to the lake of flame need to create a conflagration upon the surface of the lake that rivals anything else that can currently be seen burning. This involves more then just hurling your strongest fire-spell at the lake and hoping, a summoner must have the skill to direct their flame over a wide area of the lake and ignite the liquid and keep it burning until Salamander deigns to show himself.

The rolls required for this are '''Attunement+Arcana+Fire''' to score out an outline upon the surface and then their strongest fire spell to ignite the lake! It is up to the judge to decide if their PCs flame is strong enough and large enough to attract salamander.
If the great fire lizard comes he will only speak to the one who has created the fire and rememebr he will only pact with someone who meets the requirements.
