New page

[[File:Lava.jpg|right|thumb|450px]]

The Volcano Throne is the home of Ifrit, he who is the King of Flame, Master of the Element of Fire, if one can safely traverse the dangerous plains of fire they can approach the single pathway that winds its way up the mountain side toward the peak wherein Ifrit makes his home and throne. The path is long and treacheruos and guarded at each point from base to throne-room by massive walled gate-ways protected by hell beasts whose countenance is more ferocious, more terifying to hold then the last. These are the creatures of Ifrit's court, beings of flame and fire, shadow and heat, mighty warriors, crafty demons and ifreet of the spirit kind, servitors whose races dwell throughout the vast realm that is Ifrit's own.

To ascend this mountain one need not fight, in fact fighting is the surest course to failure and oblivion, to truly ascend this mountain one needs confidents, strength of will and determination and just a little bit of fun within their souls. Ascending the mountain is a hard and treacherous course, the heat of the slowly moving rivers of lava and the noxious gases that spume forth from the ground on either side of the steeply winding road of rock make the air deadly and leave little in the way of relief from the ever constant heat.

'''Stamina+Endurance checks TN 16''' must be passed regularly to not succumb to the terrible heat, failing will normally see someone pass out and if there is no one to look after them they are liable to be picked up by the Fire Imps who attend the mountain and taken back to the villages of the fire-plains. Falling into the boisterous care of the Imps of Ifrit is an experience all of itself, some people decide never to leave and legend has it that the resotrative brew of the Imps is one part alcohol all parts magical. '''This is just a frame work, judges may feel free to create adventures of their own for player characters who fail on the road to the Volcano Throne'''

If a traveller can survive the herrendous heat of the path they will reach the first gate-house after an hour of travel, each one is spaced two hours apart from then on and in total there are eight gates that must be passed. Guarding each portal are those warriors mentioned previously, fighting them is a foolhardy assurance to death for they cannot be defeated by any mortal and no spirit will assault the stalwart guardians of Ifrit's realm and thus insult the king of flames. Therein lies the key, they are doubtless some of the finest of warriors outside of the Lofty Hall of Heroes in fairest Valhalla, grave and strong and deadly in countenance but they can be approached and if one has but the will to speaketh unto them they will gladly, nay warmly welcome friends to pass, throwing open the gates onward and upward toward the Throne of he who commands the Flame of Passion.

'''To pass the Guardians of the gate travellers need to make a Willpower+Fortitude check, the TN starts at 9 and increases at the Judges discretion at each gateway. Failure means their nerve fails them and they cannot approach the warriors to ask for passage onward.'''

====Ifrit - King of Flame====

Beyond the final gate the path upward transitions into mighty stone steps carved in eons long past into the rock of the mountain, ascending them one leaves behind the rivers of lava and the smog of noxious fumes, rising above the challenges of the mountain into the clear dry air that surmounts the peak of Ifrit's home. Passing beneath an open archway one arrives atop the highest volcano that there ever shall be, below the Obsidian Peaks stretch out in all directions and in the furthest points of view the ancient passes to other realms can be seen.

The summit is a wide platform of stone, an irregular circle raised above the mighty magma resevoir so very far below, upon this broad platform the court of Ifrit doth gather when he calls them, imps and various other creatures of the flame attend the Lord of Fires whose throne is sat upon an obsidian platform which hangs suspended by mighty chains above the centre of this grand Volcano. Passage is free to all those who have made it to the court-chamber, you need but cross the swaying bridge to the stone platform whose presence soaks up the vasty heat of the down below and there, before the Throne of Fire present thyself to Ifrit himself.
