Steel as it is alone is only as strong as the process that was used to forge it originally. But a steel ingot that is folded gains a stronger edge. Folded steel is valued because it's ability to cut almost anything is unparralled. But a Smith knows the secret of this, and as such he can keep the brittle flaws of this from being exploited by a skilled swordsman, and protect his tools from being shattered. |
