As Green Mages are adept with inflicting various status effects upon their foes, this knowledge of how the magic interacts with others gives them the ability to anticipate another incoming status effect, and mentally prepare their body to stave it off. Since this is not true magic, but a mental discpline, it is not a perfect defense, but it can give them an edge in defense against magical status effects and attacks.
