While fighters learn how to use a shield to stop an incoming attack, a Squire is taught that his shield arm covers not only himself, but his partner on that side. Soon it helps to extend their battlefield awareness so that they learn to spot those critical moments to step in and block an incoming blow, defending their more helpless companions, or buying an ally a few more precious moments to perform their own part in the fight.


System: By spending a action and making a check of Dexterity+Agility+Active/Cover a squire enables themselves to leap in front of a friend within melee range, as long as their initial check beats the attacker's To-Hit, when the friend is being targeted by a physical attack. While covering the squire may opt to block an incoming attack, standard defense, with their shield. The range which can be 'covered' increases 1 per every 8 ranks.
