There is a saying out there... that civilization ends at the gates of any town or village.  It is supposed to mean that the rules and lifestyles that one becomes accustomed to behind the safe walls of said civilization are meaningless in the wilds.  Enter the Hunter.  This is a person who has made living in the wilds, and turning into a profession that gets them gil or trade to have a nice life at rest.  Often times they come at odds with the sedentary life behind the walls of the bastions of all the sentient races, but this is often because they also see how privileged those people are versus the cold realities of the outside world.
